Come On Up to the House
Sorry it took me so long to post this one up. This is a very special painting commissioned by the Staton's. Taylor Staton and I began work on this painting about a week before he passed from this world. I had the task on my hands of completing a collaboration alone. Acting as two separate people, and carefully listening to Taylor, I used the notes he left and the color palettes we had chosen from his mother's living room. It was difficult, yet one of the most therapeutic things I have ever done. I delivered the painting to the Staton's a few weeks ago, and it looks amazing in their living room. The decor and the painting match so well that he painting seems to spit the living room right out of the wall's mouth. Intentional and deliberate sofa painting may be a genre to explore.
I miss you a lot Taylor. I hope you like my end product. I'm sure the chroma is too high in the blue.
Love everyone,
Jonathan Ryan

Great work Jonathan! I'm sorry about your friend. The collaboration between the two of you turned out really well. I'm glad that you were able to finish.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a painting that you will never forget - I mean down to the detailed surface, it will never really leave your mind. A painter's memory, like conversations only without words
